BIRDS OUTSIDE MY WINDOW

By Alice M. Batzel

Yesterday, outside my kitchen window,

I heard the first birds of Spring.

I did not know they had returned,

And now my heart sings.

Farewell, bleak winter storms and worries,

Gray skies and cold days are soon gone.

Alas, my feathered friends herald to all,

Their joyful sound sweetly rings in song.
